  1. Day 1 Jaen to Cocachimba

    Fly from Lima to Jaen airport and transfer to Cocachimba. Go through beautiful countryside and lush jungle in the Amazonas region on this spectacular drive.

    Night in Gocta.

  2. Day 2 Gocta Falls

    Enjoy a guided hike to Gocta Falls (2-3 hours each way). This scenic walk will take you through fields and cloud forest to reach the base of the impressive Gocta Waterfall, one of the highest waterfalls in the world. The surrounding cloud forest is home of hummingbirds and a variety of other bird life.

  3. Day 3 Karajia Sarcophagi and Quiocta caverns

    Today uncover some of the history of this fascinating area with a visit to Karajia, an ancient burial site for Chachapoyas warriors. Meet the mysterious sarcophagi which have been perched on a cliff ledge for over 600 years. Continuing with Quiocta caverns, where you will appreciate stalactites and stalagmites in a distance of about 500 meters.

  4. Day 4 Kuelap Fortress

    This morning visit the pre-Inca ruins of Kuelap. Built and inhabited by the Chachapoyas from AD1000- AD1400, this magnificent mountain- top complex is surrounded by cliffs and colossal walls and on first view appears inaccessible. Explore this captivating site with your guide.

Gocta Andes Lodge.- Gocta Andes Lodge is located in the town of Cocachimba and features an outdoor pool and restaurant. This lodge serves a buffet breakfast every morning and is just 6 km from Gocta falls. The rooms at Gocta Andes Lodge have a balcony, a seating area and a private bathroom with a shower and free toiletries. The rooms also have mountain views.


La Casona de Chachapoyas.- Located in the city of Chachapoyas, 150 meters from the Plaza de Armas, it offers rooms with WiFi and plasma TV. It houses a cafeteria, garden and library. The Santa Ana Museum is 400 meters away. The rooms at La Casona de Chachapoyas are decorated with wooden beamed ceilings and equipped with heating and a private bathroom.

 

Yes, although you can rent a horse and its carrier to help you in a part of the way, then you will continue walking until the water falls of Gocta. The journey has a mild to medium difficulty in its 10 kilometers round trip, in a unique setting where vegetation and birds will accompany your adventure.

This city is the capital of the department of Amazonas. It is located at an altitude of 2,500 m.a.s.l. and has a population of 35,000 inhabitants. It was the cradle of the Chachapoyas culture, submitted by the Incas and later recovered by them during the conquest of Peru together with the Spaniards, Chancas, Huancas and Cañaris. The main square, the small cobbled streets, its beautiful mansions with patios, balconies and tiled roofs are of viceregal style.
